Diana Blank, Director
Diana Blank has been the Director of Economic Development for the City of Kyle since the creation of the Department in October 2005. During that time, the City of Kyle has become a very successful, award winning leader in economic development. Since the creation of the Economic Development Office, Kyle has welcomed an exceptional amount of commercial activity, including the relocation of RSI, Inc., a high tech light manufacturing, assembly and research and development facility, the creation of several Retail/Mixed Use developments, which will house over 2.5 M square feet on one intersection alone and a full service, state of the art, Seton hospital with 210 beds at build out.
Kyle has been recognized by the Texas Economic Development Council, as a finalist for the Community Economic Development Award (2006 & 2008), as the 2007 #1 Hot Spot for Commercial Development in the I-35 Corridor and given the 2008 New Development Award and the Economic Impact Award in 2009 by the Austin Business Journal. Kyle has also been recognized as one of the Top 100 US cities to live in 2009 and as the fifth fastest growing city in the State of Texas consistently since 2007, now home to a population that is six times what it was ten years ago.
Blank has personally been recognized during her time in Kyle as one of two exceptional professionals serving in Economic Development in the Austin Region by the 2007 Austin Business Journal Book of Power, 2008 Volunteer of the Year by the Kyle Area Chamber of Commerce, nominated for the 2010 Who’s Who Among Executives and Professionals recipient of the 2009 VIP Membership of the National Association of Professional Women, Executive and Professional Woman of the Year and named as 2010 Austin’s Top 50 Influential Women by the Austin Business Journal.
Diana serves on 13 local and regional Boards and Committees in addition to membership in several professional organizations.
Prior to her time in Kyle, Blank was the Director of Economic Development for the City of Cuero (2000-2005). She graduated with honors from the University of the Incarnate Word with a BA in Psychology, is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute and holds a certification as an Economic Development Finance Professional.
Victoria Vargas, Economic Development Assistant
Victoria Vargas joined Kyle Economic Development in January 2009. She is responsible for the daily administrative operations of the Economic Development Department as well as responding to Requests for Information from future prospects and answering questions on the current commercial developments around town.
Prior to her position in Kyle , Victoria worked for 7 years for Wells Fargo Financial as a Business Development Representative and Market Growth & Development Consultant.
Victoria earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at El Paso and recently completed the Basic Economic Development Course offered through Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX), facilitated by Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC).
