District Profile

Located in North Central Hays County, the HCISD severs more than 221 square miles.  The district’s 22 campuses are located throughout the Kyle and Buda communities, drawing more than 17,300 students.

HCISD features a state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center and many newly built campuses.  In all, there are 22 campuses including:

  • 13 Elementary Schools (K-5)
  • 5 Middle Schools (6-8)
  • 2 High Schools (9-12)
  • 1 Alternative School of Choice
  • 1 Discipline Alternative Campus


HCISD is the sixth fastest growing school district with in the state.

Ten years ago, the district served a total of 8,614 students.

Ten years from now, the district is projected to serve a total of 24,210 students.


In 2012-2013, HCISD had a total of 859 graduates.  They received nearly $8 million dollars in scholarships and grants.

Colleges & Universities
Austin Community College (ACC) Hays Campus (FM 1626 & Kohlers Crossing in Plum Creek) is the first college campus to be built in Hays County.  It is part of the Austin Community College District serving Hays County and neighboring communitites. The campus opened its doors to 1,000 students for the spring 2014 semester.
ACC Hays offers a broad selection of classes for university transfer and career training:
  • Core curriculum classes needed to earn a college degree
  • Workforce programs in emerging industries and high-demand careers
  • Developemtal education to achieve college readiness

In addition, ACC Hays students receive a full range of support and services at the campus to guide their college career from admissions to completion.
